Ike Scientific is a freelance science consulting firm established by Kyle Isaacson in 2019. As businesses and nonprofits of all sizes often find themselves stuck within R&D, Ike Scientific provides the necessary know-how and work ethic to push-start progress again, particularly by using the fields of nanotechnology, materials science, and bioengineering. While currently just a one-man show, Ike Scientific has helped apply scientific principles to improve products in a broad variety of industries -- including pharmaceutics, cosmetics, textiles, and agriculture.

History
Generations of Entrepreneurship
While Ike Scientific was only recently established in April 2019, its beginnings happened decades before. Kyle’s grandfather, Elmer Isaacson, held several jobs (aircraft mechanic, military recruiter, firefighter) during his lifetime. However, he is most remembered among the community for his job as the owner of Ike’s Grocery in Taylor, Utah, in 1964.
When Kyle was growing up, his grandfather was aging. As such, Kyle only has a few memories of his lively grandfather. One of these memories, however, is exploring his grandfather’s woodshop located in the run-down remnants of the defunct Ike’s Grocery building. Inspired by his grandfather’s passion for entrepreneurship and hard work, he decided that he would continue in blazing new paths to benefit the world.
Kyle entered a PhD program in Bioengineering in 2015 despite knowing that he was not headed for an academic career. While studying and performing research, he sought opportunities to become business savvy by enrolling in an Engineering Entrepreneurship Certificate. Those business courses provided the necessary inspiration to take risks. Kyle began looking for clients in early 2019, and the response was greater than he expected. By March, he realized that a legal entity needed to be organized, and Ike Scientific became an LLC on April 1st.
Now, Ike Scientific is continuing to grow. While opportunities for expansion abound, Kyle remains steadfast with his goal to maintain the highly personal, customized consultations that businesses need. A major gap exists between academic science and industrial R&D, and Ike Scientific is here to fill that void. And that’s not changing.
